Title:  Area Manager (North Luzon)

The Area Manager (North Luzon) or Franchise Operations Manager (North Luzon) is responsible for the growth &  development of his/ her trade area in terms of sales, profitability and FSC. He/She is in charge of the development, implementation & control of the business directions for all stores in the area. Directs  and manages  trade  area  to  achieve  the  planned  sales  growth  target, profit  target. Leads  and guides  Restaurant  Managers  and Franchisees  in his/her  area  to  successfully  and profitably operate stores while using and appreciating operating systems, standards, and support.

Develops, implements and evaluates area-specific plans for sales and profit growth, and achievement of quality and people targets of existing restaurants in alignment with district/Market strategies; Oversees implementation of applicable programs from Corporate and SBU support units; Conducts regular coaching sessions to RMs to ensure proper execution; Prepares business case for area-wide systemic operational issues and recommends solutions; Acts as consultant to Group Managers, Managing Directors, and Franchisees/Execution Oversight in-charge.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Coaches store management team in the analysis of variance and formulating plans or addressing the variances in order to achieve area-level targets
  • Conducts retail trade area scanning and prepares tactical plans, including sales-building initiatives and community relations programs, based on customer and retail trade area profile in order to ensure brand dominance in the area
  • Conducts competitor studies and reports RTA analysis to Operations Director
  • Communicates RTA insights to Trade Marketing to come up with the local marketing plan for the area
  • Monitors execution of local store marketing programs, together with that of the SBU marketing plan; and checks package program execution per store
  • Leads Product mix management vis-a-vis Area/Market strategy
  • Monitors new product launches and monitors its sales and store support needed
  • Provides feedback to counterparts with regard to launches
  • Recommends solutions for new product process issues based on the analysis of consolidated reports to Operations Director

 

Quality Management

  • Oversees FSC, GSC and NPS target achievement of the area
  • Audits and rates stores within the area regularly according to food, service, and cleanliness (FSC) standards
  • Checks execution of new products in a timely manner;
  • Maintains high level of FSC delivery to customers;
  • Reviews FSC and Business Plan of the store at the start of the year to ensure total area annual FSC performance
  • Conducts necessary QI-Core processes (ROS, Full Audit, Quick Visit, and Nomination)
  • Coaches store teams in proper execution and achievement of FSC standards
  • Prepares Renovation requisition for COO and FRA stores aligned with FSC standards
  • Approves equipment replacement recommendation within their approval level and escalates other concerns to the Operations Director if necessary
  • Conducts customer needs analysis of the Area
  • Conducts customer complaint trends analysis and action planning with Restaurant Managers
  • Plans and approves process improvement at area level\Determines applicability of best practices for operational improvements for area implementation
  • Consolidates and endorses systemic issues on customer experience to Operations Director
  • Provides guidance to RMs in implementation, program evaluation, and action planning.

 

Profitability Management

  • Oversees NOI target achievement of area
  • Conducts FCPC gap analysis and coaches RMs on addressing variance
  • Monitors all cost structure of a store team; ensures understanding of the reasons for variances; and develops creative and/or innovative plans to address negative variances on cost items in order to ensure achievement of store’s profitability target
  • Conducts audits on cost-control standards compliance and action planning
  • Determines applicability of best practices of efficiency and cost management programs for area implementation
  • Decides on all store operational concerns in the area; coaches store management team in the implementation of operational processes; and recommends store renovations, CAPEX asset management, and any appropriate action related to it to ensure operational efficiency
  • Deploys improvements across the area and monitors results of these improvements
  • Conducts renegotiation of lease contracts/rent when necessary

 

People Management and Development

  • Sets expectations with direct reports
  • Conducts employee selection and assessment for senior crew and assistant restaurant manager positions
  • Decides on critical concerns related to area team completion
  • Coaches Restaurant Managers in achieving target competency level
  • Conducts assessments of RMs for competency development
  • Collaborates with them on the preparation and sponsorship of Individual Development Plans
  • Prepares area succession plan
  • Coaches store management team in effective and efficient store management, key result area achievement; and Objectives and Key Results (OKR) development/implementation
  • Coaches team members for performance improvement, if needed.
  • Ensures high team morale and performance
  • Oversees and leads the employee discipline process for the store team; consults RM for the investigation process and data gathering

Franchise Relations

  • Develops and maintains productive and positive relationship with Managing Directors (MDs), General Managers (GMs), and Franchisees
  • Serves as the line of communication between Management and MDs
  • Collaborates with the MDs on time renovation schedule of all franchise stores
  • Influences franchisees to comply with business standards and franchise agreement
  • Acts as overall business consultants in the achievement of FSC, sales, profit and people

 

Store Network Development

  • Provides retail trade area analysis as basis for potential network expansion
  • Validates or challenges trade area assumptions forwarded by Corp Real Estate for a more robust decision on new stores and renovations
  • Provides sales forecast for new stores and renov stores. Jointly accountable for the forecast accuracy and achievement
  • Participates in critical construction-related meetings to ensure alignment on timetable, budget, and other significant changes in the plans for new stores and stores under renovation
  • Oversees accomplishment of necessary pre-construction, post-construction, and pre-opening activities:
  • Monitors turnover and punchlist items are closed in a timely manner
  • Monitors approval of permits needed for a new store and for a renovation
  • Oversees the store opening activities and collaborates with the Trade Marketing Manager to ensure that all requirements are completed prior to opening
  • Monitors the PNL of new stores and renovations
  • Conducts assigned activities for stores undergoing change in ownership
  • Conducts necessary administrative and regulatory activities for store closures

 

Others
Performs other job or expertise related assignments in order to develop one’s self and/or share one’s expertise resulting to support for operational efficiency

Education

College graduate preferably in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Business related course, Behavioral Science and Industrial Engineering courses.

Experience

  • At least 6 years store operations management experience in a quick service restaurant (QSR) industry

Licenses/Certifications/Trainings

Training on advance-level of business strategy development Training on advance-level of profit management and financial analysis related programs
