Title:  Director, Facilities Management

POSITION SUMMARY

The position heads the Engineering Services team under the Network Development Group.  The role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities related to overseeing engineering operations such as Equipment Repairs & Maintenance, Minor Store Renovation, Special Projects, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of kitchen equipment and cold storages, and Asset Management.  He/she develops and implements strategies to increase revenue streams of Engineering Services and optimize existing ones. He/she also creates and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures for the department. Collaborates with the Business Units and other functional teams within the Network Development Group in delivering Gold Standard Equipment and Facilities. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Expertise and Engineering Project Management

  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to the engineering team, assisting with complex problem-solving and decision-making. 

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and incorporate relevant advancements into engineering processes and solutions. Review and approve engineering solutions and specifications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

  • Establish and enforce quality assurance processes and standards to ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions and products. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective and preventive actions as needed.

  • Set and Review SLA with key stakeholders.

  • Approve resource requirements for projects and reviews utilization of these resources to manage project investment and department operating expenses.

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.  Review progress, monitor trends, and calibrate strategies to drive project success.

 

Revenue Generation

  • Formulate revenue generation strategies aligned with the department’s goals and objectives by understanding and analyzing historical data, customer needs, and pricing strategies to identify new revenue opportunities.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align revenue strategies with overall business objectives.

  • Form partnerships and alliances that can contribute to revenue growth or negotiate partnership agreements to maximize revenue opportunities.

  • Analyze key revenue metrics and financial performance indicators.  Provide recommendations for revenue optimization based on data analysis and insights.

Asset Management

  • Work with peers to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for spare parts inventory management. 

  • Drive initiatives to ensure the availability of the right spare parts at the right locations, minimizing costs while maximizing operations efficiency.

  • Innovate and implement best practices to enhance the tracking of spare parts across geographic locations, improving accuracy, and efficiency.  Lead other process improvement projects, such as optimizing the claims process with suppliers in the event of equipment/ parts failures.

  • Collaborates with Legal in the review, renewal of contract of 3rd party service providers including warehouse operations.  Creates risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address potential contract-related issues or disputes.

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, partners, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment of expectations.  Build strategic partnership with the Business Units to achieve its business objectives and manage facilities repairs and maintenance. 

  • Set and review SLAs, Terms of Reference, operational metrics, policies, and guidelines with key stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective delivery of business goals and objectives.

  • Collaborate with others to develop cross-functional processes and establish ways of working for the effective delivery of business goals and objectives.

 

Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness

  • Create department Objectives, Key Results, and Initiatives aligned to the over-all strategic imperatives and directions set by the Division Head. 

  • Set performance parameters for the department ensuring that these capture client expectations and are aligned to the over-all strategy of the Division.  Monitor and review the department performance to ensure that targets are achieved. 

  • Identify and allocate resource requirements, including staffing, equipment, and technology to ensure projects and initiatives are completed on time and within budget.  Develop strategies to optimize resource allocation and utilization.  Implement efficient workflows and processes to maximize productivity and minimize waste.

  • Establish competencies and organizational capabilities to deliver the goals and objectives of the department.

  • Manage and mentor team of Managers and Engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement to drive business results.

  • Champion people initiatives for the department, ensuring compliance to talent assessment requirements, succession planning process, etc.  Lead employee engagement initiatives.   

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in related field of work, with general management experience. Exposure in restaurant/fast-food an advantage.

  • Licensed Mechanical or Electrical Engineer

  • Proficiency in the following: Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Sanitation design; Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC); Minor Renovation
